Gladys Myers |
In September of 1995, Gladys Myers, whom I loved and cared about more than the world, passed away. She never understood computers and most certainly didn't understand the web (which was AOL at the time). But she did buy me my first Apple IIc, which set me on the path to where I am today.
I dedicated the first "Presslandia" website to her in 1996. While having a website to honor my grandma may seem silly (especially since my grandma wouldn't even use a microwave willingly), it isn't the only thing I have done to honor her and the important role she played in my life. In October of 2006, I named my first son after her - "Gabe" (as close as I could get to Gladys for a boy). In April 2011, I had a daughter, Maya, who is also named after Gladys...but uses her last name.
My grandmother was always there for me. She loved me, and she devoted herself to making sure that I had a good life. She taught me how to be a good person. Thank you, grandma. I will always love you.
